Many women are under the impression that weight bearing exercise will bulk them up - adding too much muscle, looking less feminine. In fact, the opposite is true. Muscle building for fat loss is possible, and adding muscle will, in fact, help your body burn fat more rapidly. Adding muscle to your frame helps you attain a lean, toned appearance. You'll be a fat burning machine!
When building muscle for fat loss, you may not lose weight as quickly as with cardio alone. However, you are burning fat more quickly. Muscle has weight, and you are replacing body fat pounds with muscular ones. If you are overweight, your weight will still drop. In either case, your body fat percentage will drastically decrease, and you will begin seeing the shape you've been working for.
When you decide to add muscle building exercises to your daily routine, start with lower weight and higher repetitions. As you get stronger and build more muscle, you can increase your weights as long as you're following a progression of some sort.
It's always important to eat healthfully for your goals. Working out in the gym and then going home to load up on cookies and chips is counterproductive and will actually lead to muscle breakdown. Keep your protein high and fill your plate with colorful veggies, fruits, and whole grains.
Muscle building also leads to other benefits. Your posture will improve as your core muscles become stronger. You'll have more energy and be able to do more, in and out of the gym as your body strength grows. Working out will become easier and daily activities and movements will be done with ease and energy! When you begin you will be sore. Stretching after your workout will minimize soreness and speed up recovery.
The Bottom Line
Remember, your hard work will pay off! You're decreasing your body fat percentage, which improves your overall health. It's a proven fact - muscle building for fat loss works! And as you do, you will feel healthier, stronger, and more confident in every area of your life!
